Call (814) 825-8686 or email childcare@pennbriar.com. Tell us your child's age and the days you need. If you need transportation, Summit Township School District buses to our center, and we drive to and from many other area schools. The director can set up other school transportation.

Tour the room
Come see the classroom your child would join. Meet the teachers who run it, and watch how the room is set up for that age. Bring your questions about the day and the schedule. To arrange a visit, call (814) 825-8686 or email childcare@pennbriar.com.

Enroll and settle in
Complete the enrollment forms and plan a first week that suits your child's routine. If you want care only on certain days, ask about flexible program options, available as space allows. For school-age children, the director can help with transportation. For enrollment questions, call (814) 825-8686.
What to have ready
Have enrollment forms filled out before the first day. Bring a health form and your child's immunization record. Write down emergency contacts and the names of everyone allowed to pick your child up. The Childcare Director or Office Manager can tell you what else your child's age needs.
Pack a full change of clothes and label everything with your child's name. Add outdoor gear for the season and nap items if your child rests here. A comfort object from home helps, especially in the first weeks. Label that too so it finds its way back.
Sort out the drop-off routine before the first morning: who brings your child, at what time, and who picks up. Make sure the people authorized to pick up are listed on your paperwork. Tell your child's teacher how you want to hear about the day. Then ask about anything you still need to know.
The first weeks
The first days often go better shorter. Your child might stay for part of the morning and build up from there. A familiar object from home, a small blanket or a stuffed animal, can make the room feel less new. A teacher greets your child by name at the door.
At pickup, teachers tell you what your child did: what they played, what they ate, how they napped, how they handled the goodbye. Ask them anything you want to know. Most children settle into the routine within a few weeks. Some take longer, and that is normal too.

Our hours are 6:30am to 6:00pm Monday through Friday. A day is built around arrival, play and learning, meals and rest, and outdoor time, with pickup at the end. The exact rhythm depends on your child's age group. Ask your child's teacher what the day looks like in that room.
How will I know how my child is doing?
Parents usually hear about their child's day when they ask a teacher at pickup. Teachers can tell you what your child ate, how they napped, and what they played. If something needs more time, ask to speak with the Childcare Director or the Office Manager.
Do you offer part-time or flexible schedules?
Schedules depend on your child's age group and what openings we have. Ask the Childcare Director or the Office Manager what is available. If space is available, we extend care to children on an as-needed basis, with paperwork from the office.
What if there is no place right now?
If we have no place for your child's age right now, ask to be told when one opens. com to add your child's name.
